2025-2026 Attendance

Courses are available 24/7 to students (including nights and weekends), any attendance quiz turned in during an attendance window will count for students to be marked as present.

Participation and Attendance: Students are expected to participate in all online activities as listed in this syllabus and in the update section of this class.

REQUIRED ACTION: Students must complete the Attendance Quiz, located in the Green Folder in every class, twice every week, in order to be marked PRESENT.

Absent students get a text and their guardians get a phone call on Wednesday for the Monday-Wednesday attendance and on Friday for the Thursday-Friday attendance.

Choose two times per week, one in each attendance period. For example, this might be Tuesday at 12:00 pm and Thursday at 12:00 pm. Set a reminder in your device or phone for these two times. Then focus on getting the important stuff done--your courses!

REMEMBER: Absent students and their guardians get a phone call each day they are marked absent. If you will be absent for ANY reason, your family must call the Attendance Line at 303-982-6770, or you will be marked ABSENT if you do not complete the Attendance Quiz.

Follow the prompts to excuse absences

Pre Arranged Absences: Please notify JVA if your student will be missing 3 or more days of school.  We will submit your absence request to administration for approval.  Once the absences are approved, it is your student’s responsibility to notify teachers of their planned absence and make up any work missed during this time.

Mismarked Absences: If a student believes they were marked absent in error the student must contact the teacher to clear it up.  Then the teacher can notify the attendance office via email, call, or in person to remove the absence.

District Attendance Policy:  A Student is considered truant if there are four unexcused absences in one month or ten unexcused absences in a year.  The school district identifies what constitutes an excused or unexcused absences in the District’s Code of Conduct.

Per board policy, the following are considered excused:

  1. A student who is temporarily ill or injured or whose absence is approved by the school administration on a prearranged basis.
  2. A student who is absent for an extended period due to physical, mental, or emotional disability.
  3. Excused absences include funerals, illness, injury, legal obligations, medical procedures and religious observations, and extenuating circumstances determined by the principal.
  4. A student who is attending a school sponsored activity or who is receiving Jeffco educational services.
  5. A student who is visiting a parent/ guardian who is an active duty Military.

Attendance in Jeffco

The importance of regular, daily school attendance as a basis for academic achievement cannot be overemphasized. Attendance is a shared responsibility of the student, the families and the school.

It is the family’s responsibility to ensure their student attends school and to notify the school when their student is absent for a legitimate reason, such as an illness or family emergency. Each family should also ensure their student’s school has their correct contact information so that the school is able to communicate about any attendance issues that may arise.
